What is love, to you?
Love to me is that itch you can't scratch, that desire to want something or to be involved with a certain person, place, or thing.
How did you come to define/understand it?
Love is complex and I don't believe one person alone fully understands it. I don't understand love, but what I have come to realize is that love is something to be valued, more than gold. More than anything!
How do you define it for yourself now?
Love starts internally, with your own self. I pour love into myself first, before pouring into others.
How do you like to be loved?
Knowing and understanding my "Love Language" is everything for me. I feel most loved when that language is spoken freely and frequently. I love being loved!
How do you like to love other people?
Loudly and outwardly…I really try to focus on the love language of others as well as my own. This helps me better serve the people I love in a way where they can feel the appreciation.
Why is love important to you?
I am a Libra. I think it was etched in my genetic makeup to love, and love hard. Love, for myself and others ,is one of the most important things for me - at this time in my life. Love is so sacred and it often gets taken advantage of so I tend to keep it guarded. I NEVER joke about loving someone or something.
Why do you think we struggle with expressing and/or receiving love?
It’s all an internal battle. The struggle comes from lack of self worth. A misconception manifested in our minds by stigmas and social media. It’s very easy to think you’re not good enough and with that comes a guard which denies the action of giving and receiving love.
It’s starts with oneself.
How do you think we could all be more loving towards one another?
ACTION! We must go out of our way to let people feel the love. Whether that be an email to check up on a loved one or a text message to a friend or even a shoutout online - it’s all just to make someone feel good in that moment. It is not always genuine, but in doing so, it creates this momentum of positive energy and and a sense of love that is contagious.
How do you plan to continue loving yourself and others during this time of Coronavirus and a social justice revolution?
Self-care is the name of my game. So, I’ll be continuing to love on myself through hair care, creating content, and staying active outdoors.
I will continue to practice the love languages of my friends and family when checking-in on them. Love costs one's understanding. So, during these times of the virus and social injustice, the plan is to keep reading about it, keep understanding, and keep educating the people around me.
